Why you need fall protection equipment

Working on roofs always involves a certain amount of risk, especially when reaching considerable heights. The use of fall protection equipment is therefore not just a recommendation, but a necessity to ensure the safety and well-being of workers. Fall protection equipment such as harnesses, wires and anchor points play a crucial role in preventing fall accidents that can have serious consequences.

Firstly, a fall protection system provides a physical barrier against falls, which is essential when working at heights. It helps ensure workers stay within safe working areas and significantly reduces the risk of losing balance or misstepping. Secondly, in the event of a fall, fall protection equipment minimizes the risk of serious injury. It absorbs part of the force of the impact and ensures that the worker does not free fall.

Furthermore, by using fall protection equipment, companies demonstrate a clear commitment to complying with safety standards and legislation. This not only protects the wellbeing of the employees themselves, but also the company's reputation and finances from potential lawsuits and claims. Fall protection equipment is therefore an essential investment. It creates a safer working environment where employees can perform their tasks efficiently and without fear of serious accidents.

What is fall protection?

Fall protection is an important safety measure that aims to protect people from the risk of falling, especially when working at heights such as on roofs. A fall protection system consists of several elements that work together to ensure the safety of the worker.

At Mul10 ProSafe, we have spent a long time thinking about the best and most effective way to create fall protection. We're happy to help you understand what it is, why it's important and when to use it. Read more about fall protection.

Rules for fall protection

There are a number of regulations and legislation associated with using fall protection equipment and implementing fall protection systems. These laws and standards for fall protection aim to protect workers from fall accidents. In Denmark, the primary rules for fall protection are set and regulated by the Danish Working Environment Authority, which has published specifications for when and how to use fall protection correctly. It is important to be familiar with these to ensure that the equipment is used correctly. Read more about fall protection rules.

Danish produced & patented fall protection system

As the only manufacturer of fall protection systems, Mul10 ProSafe is produced in Denmark. This means that you are guaranteed a quality product of the highest standard on the market. At the same time, you are choosing a product that has not been unnecessarily transported from far away.

In addition, we have specially developed our own patented safety foot that makes fall protection simpler and more straightforward than ever before. A Mul10 ProSafe fall protection system also comes with a warranty that is in line with the warranty of the roof itself and can therefore be valid for up to 15 years after installation, provided the statutory inspections are carried out.

These are just two of the many reasons why fall protection equipment from Mul10 ProSafe is the best choice.

FAQ

Does the equipment comply with CE-marking and EN-standards (EN 795, EN 361, etc.)?

Yes. All components of the Mul10 ProSafe are CE-marked and comply with the applicable fall protection standards: DS/EN 795:2012 (anchor devices), DS/CEN/TS 16415:2013 (multiple users simultaneously), DS/EN 362 (connectors), DS/EN 363 (fall protection systems), DS/EN 364 (test methods), and DS/EN 365 (use, maintenance, and inspection). The system has been tested and approved in collaboration with the Danish Technological Institute using both static and dynamic drop tests, and the safety foot is approved for two users at the same time.

Do you serve all of Denmark?

We manufacture and deliver Mul10 ProSafe throughout Denmark from our own factory in Klakring near Juelsminde. The installation itself is carried out by certified Mul10 ProSafe installers—typically roofers, whom we train and certify. We’d be happy to refer you to a certified installer, or you can have your own employee certified.

Do you offer mandatory inspections?

A permanently installed fall protection system must be inspected at least once a year. The inspection itself is performed by a certified Mul10 ProSafe installer—not by us directly. We define the inspection procedure and train the installers, so you can either become certified and perform the inspection yourself or have it performed by a certified installer. The inspection includes, among other things, checking and tightening the wire, inspecting fittings, sliders, and safety feet, as well as performing a tensile test on at least every 10th safety foot.

Is the system suitable for uses other than roofing—such as a lift or scaffolding?

Mul10 ProSafe is a permanent fall protection system that is installed in the roof structure—developed specifically for roof work on bitumen and PVC foil roofs made of concrete, steel, and plywood. For work from a lift or scaffold, other solutions are used; in these cases, the lift and scaffold themselves serve as alternatives to permanent fall protection. If you’re unsure about what your project requires, we’d be happy to advise you.

How do I become a certified installer?

You will become certified by completing our fall protection course. Here, you will learn how to properly install and inspect the Mul10 ProSafe system, and you will be registered as a certified Mul10 ProSafe installer. As a certified installer, you are authorized to both install the system and perform the annual inspections required by law. The course is intended primarily for roofers.

Responsibility for employee safety

What are the employer's duties?

It's an employer's duty:

  • Assess how work at height can be performed safely.
  • That work areas where fall protection equipment must be used are marked with signage.
  • To provide suitable fall protection equipment when the work situation requires it.
  • Together with the user, ensure the maintenance and cleanliness of fall protection equipment.

Before using the fall protection equipment, the user must be instructed in the use of the equipment and informed of the dangers of not using it.

Contingency plan

The company's use of fall protection equipment must be included in their APV (workplace assessment) - but a written plan for how the work can be carried out safely - including an emergency plan for what procedures to follow when using fall arrest equipment - including a plan for how the employer and the employee should react if an accident occurs. The emergency plan must be visible and known to everyone.
