B. Body support (Harness)

A fall arrest harness should have straps around the chest, waist, seat and thighs. It is important that the harness fits correctly to reduce the risk of injury to the person in the event of a fall accident. The harness should be tightened so that you can just get your fingers between the body and the strap.

There are always two chest blocks. The carabiner for the lanyard must be attached to both chest pads to hang vertically after a fall.

The harness must be inspected every year. It must be discarded if:

  • Exceeding the expiration date according to the manufacturer's instructions.
  • The CE mark is worn off and you can't read what it says.
  • It has been used to stop a fall

The main benefit of a support belt is for vertical fall protection, but it also provides extra comfort while working. In addition, there can be hooks for tools, toolboxes, etc. depending on the characteristics of the support belt.
